Iranian director received award for his film "It Was Just an Accident".
Eight minutes applause for a moving film: Iranian director Jafar Panahi won the "Palme d'Or" at the Cannes Film Festival on 24 May 2025, for his movie "It Was Just an Accident." The film, which Panahi secretly shot in his homeland, received sustained applause at its Cannes premiere. Panahi drew inspiration for his film from his own time spent in prison in Iran.
