Three internationally recognized masters programs offer service training for media professionals

International Networking: The students of the LSM come from Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Ukraine.

(Leipzig, October 23rd, 2008) The “LEIPZIG SCHOOL OF MEDIA (LSM) – non-profit Association for Continuing Education Ltd.” will start with 21 students in three courses in the winter semester 2008/09. Thus, the number of students at the Media campus Villa Ida in Leipzig doubled compared to last year.

Under the umbrella of the LSM, a subsidiary of the Media Foundation of the Sparkasse Leipzig, and in cooperation with the University of Leipzig and the University of Applied Sciences, Economy and Cultur Leipzig (HTWK), three current part time Masters degree courses are currently offered. In addition to the already established courses “Web Content Management” and “Cross Media Publishing” a new programme was launched yesterday : “New Media Journalism”.

Leipzig, October 8th, 2008. The 8th “Prize for the Freedom and Future of the Media” has been awarded. Susanne Fischer, Alan Johnston and Win Tin are united by their unwavering quest for the truth, their persistent efforts to inform and enlighten, and their courageous struggle for freedom of the press and media. The three prizewinners, who share a purse of €30,000, demonstrate through their varied work that the pursuit of a common goal can take on different forms.

Der Preis wird in diesem Jahr zum achten Mal verliehen. Er ist mit insgesamt 30.000 Euro dotiert und geht zu gleichen Teilen an die deutsche Journalistin Susanne Fischer, den britischen Fernseh-Reporter Alan Johnston und den birmesischen Schriftsteller und Journalisten Win Tin.
